  • Reinvigorate the neighborhood association through outreach and education
  • Implement Morningside neighborhood plan
  • Identify new and enhance existing park land per neighborhood plan
  • Identify opportunities for tree planning to enhance our canopy​

Morningside got its name from the Morningside Addition, a large subdivision of 157 parcels that stretched from Judson Street (just south of Hoyt) to Pringle Creek beyond Oak Hill. The division was primarily from the donation land claims of Fabritus Smith and the Thomas Davidson family. Other early claims in the neighborhood included Ewald, Holman, Pringle, Strong and Waldo.



Morningside Neighborhood is currently home to 1,051 structures 50 years or older. Among these are two designated local landmarks the Leslie Methodist Parsonage and the Dr. Carlton Smith House, located at 1305 and 1335 Cannon St. SE respectively.
